Maximise Minimalist Kitchen Space All In One Mini Kitchen
When moving into smaller apartments one of the first sacrifices that become apparent is the lack of kitchen space. Gone are the opportunities to install large hobs and spacious, eye level ovens. One doesn't necessarily have to sacrifice cooking flexibility though as there are several countertop and built in mini kitchen units available that combine most features of full size installations.
In the case of countertop models the design usually follows standard microwave or toaster oven design with a front door cabinet housing a convection oven and optional electric burners on the top of the cabinet. These units can also include nice to haves such as rotisserie units capable of roasting a full chicken.
Countertop kitchens differ in feature set from manufacturer to manufacturer but most offer baking, broiling and standard convection cooking capability and most product ranges include at least one model with top mounted burners for stove top cooking. Most of these mini kitchens have full setting ranges on the oven and stove tops so you don't have to sacrifice cooking control.
Many sport features usually associated with full size installations such as self cleaning interiors, multiple rack configurations and rotisserie units. Large tempered glass door allow easy access and viewing while cooking or baking and crumb trays make cleaning up even easier. These little units pack a lot of cooking power into packages that seldom exceed the size of large microwaves. Many mini kitchen users conjure up surprisingly ambitious meals in these little wonders.
The other kitchen option for space challenged chefs is the compact kitchen unit. Larger than the countertop units, these installations feature a compact cabinet that has drawers, built in refrigerators, cooker tops, ovens and stainless steel sink units. This type of mini kitchen usually comes in modular, DIY form and once assembled, need some sort of plumbing arrangement to be installed.
These compact kitchens often have sliding to and front covers that, when closed, give a sleek, concealed appearance. They offer the most bang for your buck if you have the space and surrender nothing in terms of usability to full size installations. Most feature aesthetically pleasing designs that will compliment most decor schemes.
Some compact kitchens are designed to resemble a standard wide kitchen cabinet which, once opened, feature a stainless steel or melamine counter top complete with sink and hob with either eye level or under counter ovens, drawers, cupboard space and built in refrigerators . When the doors are closed up the unit gives no indication of being anything more than a large kitchen cupboard.
Smaller built in units are no larger than a medium sized chest freezer and offer the same cooker/oven/refrigerator and sink configurations as the larger models with less cupboard and drawer space. There is a large selection of manufacturers and configurations available and one is sure to find a unit that will grace the miniscule kitchen perfectly.
So it's not necessary to live on take aways when moving into a small apartment. With one of these mini kitchen options it is possible to maintain your chef status even if you have a closet sized kitchen.
